Task 1: Summary of the legal framework of ICT in ESO

In this document, which establishes the curriculum for ESO and Bachillerato in the Valencian Community regarding the subject Primera Lengua Extranjera, we can identify several parts enhancing the need to introduce ICT skills in education.
The integration of ICTs in the classroom begins in 1st year of ESO already, and it continues to be taught in each and every year, including Bachillerato. ICTs are present in the Spanish education through several ways: from a more theoretical point of view, they are a part of the syllabus (Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación), which means that students will be working on them on various levels (oral and written comprehension and oral and written production). Then, in a practical sense, ICTs are integrated in the curriculum as transversal elements throughout the so called competencia digital. Accordingly, as it is specified in the Bloque 5 of each course, all the students from the different academic levels of ESO and Bachillerato are expected to learn about how to research and manage information from digital media, to use research and communication tools on the Internet to carry out school projects, to use ICTs critically, to share digital resources with cooperative aims, to know how the web mail works, to prevent cyberbullying, to produce content in digital media, to elaborate multimedia presentations, to edit images, and to properly acknowledge the copyrights (15).
